iConvert Scanner for iPad Tablet

My initial impression is not good. Upon delivery of my iConvert Scanner, I plugged the electric cord in, which BTW is VERY SHORT. Nothing happened, no power up, nothing. I unplugged it, tried several other outlets and still nothing. My husband took a flashlight and shined it in the power port on the scanner. Sure enough it was damaged, a piece was chipped off. Poor quality control or maybe a return sent out again although it didn't appear to be a return.

On the positive side, Brookstone was very accommodating and issued an order for a new one be shipped out immediately. An email containing a prepaid return label was also issued. At this point I'm giving the arrival and condition of the scanner one star not the scanner performance. I'm giving Brookstone five stars for their customer service.

I will hopefully update this review in a positive light once I receive my new scanner and use it.

Update: One week later and my new scanner has arrived and everything works great thus far. It powered up, I then placed my iPad 2 on the scanner's dock and was pleased to see that my iPad sits securely; no issues with a wobbly iPad as a few other reviewers have stated. I immediately scanned a document and was very pleased with it's quality. This scanner will be used in a casual home setting.

I am now upgrading my review of this scanner to 5 stars. I wanted to love this scanner and I do! Recommend.

I've been a Quicken user for 23 years (since 1990). I started out upgrading every year, but after a few less-than-great versions I became more selective about buying upgrades. My Quicken 2010 Deluxe was almost to end-of-life (with regard to transaction downloads), so I had to decide whether to purchase the new 2013 version, or perhaps find a 2012 copy. Reading all the negative reviews here on Amazon initially scared me off 2013, but as I monitored reviews across the Internet it appeared to be getting better. I put in my Christmas gift request for 2013 Deluxe, and am happy to report that my transition from Q10 to Q13 has been very smooth. The new version automatically uninstalled my Q10, installed Q13, and updated it with all the patches (release 10). I had almost 200,000 entries that converted without any issue, and all my stock history came across cleanly as well. I was concerned they'd changed the user interface dramatically between 2010 and 2013, but I was able to navigate without problems as soon as the new version opened. I created my Quicken mobile CLOUD ID from within the PC software, specified the subset of accounts I wanted to access from my iPad, and waited as it synched the necessary info to the cloud. With the iPad app installed, I was able to review my information without any problems. I haven't used it long enough to say with certainty there aren't any remaining issues, but it appears all of the issues that led to 1-star reviews early on have been addressed. Any of you on 2010 that are looking at 2013 and wondering if it will be okay, I can report that I'm a happy upgrade customer.

I've been using TurboTax Deluxe for several years now and I think it's great! I had no problems downloading the product (Windows XP) or installing it. The one thing I really like about it is the automatic update feature. When I run the software, if there are any updates for the program, forms, etc., it automatically asks me if I want to download and install them which I do so I have the most current versions of everything. Years ago I used to do my taxes manually spending literally hours filling out worksheets to see if I qualified for a particular deduction and how much I could deduct. Having seen many TV advertisements for TurboTax, I decided to try it. Boy oh boy, what a difference in the time it took to prepare my taxes. I don't have a real complicated return, at least I don't think I do, but TurboTax found deductions I wasn't even aware of or that I qualified for. If you can read, follow directions and answer all the questions honestly, I think TurboTax is the only way to go to get your maximum refund.
